the age thing

Posted on July 10, 2011 with 0 comments
So it here it is: someone has guessed my age to be in the ball park of my age. How did this happen? I’ve even colored my hair recently. And I thought I was looking pretty good last night….
It was asked or
guessed or
ventured in the context of aging artists, or artists of a certain age.
Like: Rah! Rah! We (being older artists) need to show the world that we can be more prolific as we age, not just fade away.
As an artist I haven’t even blossomed yet, so it is not time for me to fade away…
But looking into a mirror has become an interesting experience. I kind of recognize myself. I see the confusion and distraction and think: yep, that’s me, but I look very different.
Or maybe I’m looking differently.
Got some wrinkles, things are falling, the baby fat is long, long gone…and surprise! I feel comfortable with what I see. I am interesting looking; got some character. Some miles, some distance, some depth.

the noise thing

This is the noisiest apartment I have ever lived in. This is particularly profound because I lived in NYC for 18 years. Once I lived just shy of the corner of 70th St and Broadway: very busy area, window on the street on the 12th floor. They even tore the building down across the street and built a new apartment complex while I was living there. Still, this is the noisiest apartment I have ever lived in. I will not be living here for very much longer…

Anna Banana's set this past Monday was "the most solid show" I have ever had, according to Mark, who is not one to offer inflated praise at any time. It has been documented on my flip and maybe I will post some clips soon.
